"A non-local local school" Both campuses run the same curriculum - families need only select between half day or whole day class Inquiry Learning Approach Inquiry-based learning (also known as experiential learning) is a teaching model that cultivates children's love of learning and to encourage them to learn actively. In inquiry-based learning, the teacher will use different ways to arouse children’s interest in a topic. Sometimes the teacher will ask the children meaningful and quality questions for the children to think about, sometimes the teacher will ask the children’s opinions, and sometimes the teacher will provide different materials for learners to experience and construct meaning from through problem solving and research. The purpose is to cultivate an attitude of active learning, allowing them to gradually construct knowledge from experience spontaneously. A Biliterate & Trilingual Environment All classes have a Cantonese, English, and Putonghua teacher working together to teach all six major areas of learning. A holistic learning environment All six major learning areas are integrated and taught in Cantonese, English and Putonghua. Literacy is taught through our integrated Chinese learning, English phonics and Putonghua school based program. Problem solving behaviours are introduced through our math, innovating and STEM classes and positive education is communicated through stories and independent learning. Our Story Begins in 1996 Our Story Tsing Yi has been home to Tivoli for over 25 years. In 1996, our first kindergarten, Tivoli Anglo-Chinese Kindergarten was founded by Chief Principal Carmen Chan Ka Mun in Tivoli Garden, the first sandwich class housing complex in Hong Kong. Though the housing complex was designed to cater to middle income households, from early days, the school aimed to respect and serve families of all needs. Established during the days of the handover, Tivoli understood the importance Hong Kong held at the intersection of Chinese and Western culture and placed a heavy emphasis on establishing a rich trilingual language (Cantonese, English, Putonghua) environment that remains a huge part of our curriculum. As Tsing Yi expanded and developed, Tivoli did too, with Tivoli Nursery & Kindergarten established in 1999 and Tivoli International Playschool in 2010 to keep up with increasing demands. As part of the Tivoli family, both campuses upheld our beliefs in placing a heavy emphasis on language, respecting all families and learners, creating a rich learning environment and communicating through positive discipline. As the world has continued to change, so have we, as we have adapted to the different needs and demands of our community and families over the years. However, our belief that happy, hands-on childhood experiences rooted in positive relationships, rich environmental exposure and should be accessible to all remains unchanged and continues to drive us forwards in our goal to providing quality early childhood education. 1996 Tivoli Kindergarten was established with the goal of providing affordable quality education that did not come at a premium 1999 Tivoli Nursery was founded due to high placement demands. 2005 Tivoli was awarded the Kwai Tsing Safe and Healthy School Award, awarded by Kwai Tsing Safe Community and Healthy City Association Ltd. 2007 Quality Assurance Inspection Report, awarded by Quality Assurance Kindergartens Department of Education Bureau 2010 Tivoli International Playschool established. 1996 Tivoli Kindergarten was established with the goal of providing affordable quality education that did not come at a premium 1999 Tivoli Nursery was founded due to high placement demands. 2004 Tivoli Mutual Help Center established with support from the Social Welfare Department (SWD) within Cheung Hong Estate, Tsing Yi. The center was the first of its kind in Tsing Yi to provide occasional child care services through parent volunteers to care for children who or children under six years of age.
